Improv Building Blocks w/ Peter Fluet!
Character creation and activation. Building memorable characters to activate and drive scenes.
- Week 1: Character basics: Voice, movement, absurd, straight man, peas and pod, opposing voices.
- Week 2: Character basics II: Emotions, locations, reactions, building patterns
- Week 3: Character basics III: Grounded characters. Building point of view, vulnerability, tweaking the dramatic to build the comedic
- Week 4: Character based forms: Character monologues (if participants are willing), Possible forms: LeRonde, Armando, Character Train, Close Quarters
About your Instructor:
Peter Fluet is a recent transplant to North Carolina and the Charlotte area. He spent the prior 25 years studying, performing, coaching and teaching improv and sketch comedy in Los Angeles. He has trained/performed with The Groundlings Theater, Second City Hollywood, Second City at Sea on Norwegian Cruise Lines, IO West, Westside Comedy Theater, and UCB Hollywood. He hosted several workshops at different improv festivals throughout the country by himself and with his Los Angeles improv team Heyday. He has written several plays that originated from his improv and two of them have won awards at the Hollywood Fringe festival. He has taught beginner level improv all the way to advanced improv forms. Currently he is coaching teams at Charlotte Comedy Theater and performing with Now are the Foxes and Clutch.
